Festa Major de Llafranc 2026

📅 Thu, 27 Aug 2026, 19:30 – 30 Aug 2026
📍 Llafranc, Palafrugell

Llafranc keeps its patron-saint festival for the last weekend of August: four days of concerts, sardanes and beach events in the cove below the Sant Sebastià lighthouse.

What it is

Llafranc — one of the three coves that belong to Palafrugell — holds its festa major from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August 2026. The patron is Santa Rosa, and the parish church that carries her name sits a street back from the seafront.

What is programmed

The opening act published by the council is the Santa Rosa concert with the Coral Nit de Juny, Thursday 27 August at 21:30. The rest of the four days runs on the neighbourhood association's own programme, which the town's culture office publishes at cultura.palafrugell.cat rather than in the printed August agenda — check it before travelling, because individual acts move.

Two fixed points nearby that weekend, both free and both listed in the municipal agenda:

  • Sardanes on Plaça Nova, Friday 28 August at 20:00, with the Cobla Ciutat de Girona.
  • Sardanes at the Port Bo in Calella, Saturday 29 August at 18:30, with the Cobla Baix Empordà — the "ballada dins el mar", danced standing in the shallows.

Getting there

Llafranc is about 4 km from Palafrugell town. In August the cove's own car parks fill by mid-morning; the bus from the Palafrugell station on Carrer Lluís Companys and the camí de ronda from Calella (about 25 minutes on foot) are both easier than driving in.

30th Cantada d'Havaneres de Tamariu

📅 Sat, 05 Sept 2026, 17:00 – 05 Sept 2026
📍 Tamariu, Palafrugell

Five havanera groups on the sand at Tamariu, a cremat of burnt rum handed round, and the end of the singing season on this stretch of the Costa Brava.

What it is

The 30th Cantada d'Havaneres de Tamariu is on Saturday 5 September 2026 at 19:00, on Tamariu beach. Havaneres are the songs Catalan sailors brought back from Cuba; they are sung outdoors, at the water, and drunk to with cremat — rum burned with sugar, lemon peel and coffee beans.

Five local groups sing this year: Àmfora, Arjau, Els Cremats, Peix Fregit and Port Bo. Lluís Poch presents. Free.

The rest of the day

A craft market runs all day along the Passeig del Mar, and from 19:00 the Associació de Veïns i Amics de Tamariu hands out the cremat.

This is the last cantada of the season in the municipality — Calella's, the best known on the coast, is held at the start of July.

Getting there

Tamariu is the smallest of Palafrugell's three coves, about 5 km from the town, and its parking is very limited; in early September the sensible approach is the bus or the camí de ronda.

Les Trobades de Cap Roig 2026 — "El sentit de la natura"

📅 Thu, 15 Oct 2026, 08:00 – 18 Oct 2026
📍 Calella de Palafrugell

Four days of talks in the Cap Roig gardens, run by the European School of Humanities with La Maleta de Portbou, on what nature means in a changing world.

What it is

Les Trobades de Cap Roig return to the botanical garden above Calella from 15 to 18 October 2026, under the title El sentit de la natura — the meaning of nature. Writers, scientists, philosophers and artists are brought together to look at the subject from both the sciences and the humanities, in a world reshaped by environmental, technological and cultural change.

The meetings are organised by the Escola Europea d'Humanitats with La Maleta de Portbou and the collaboration of Palafrugell town council.

Practical

The full programme is published by Fundació "la Caixa" at fundacionlacaixa.org/ca/jardins-cap-roig-trobades. The gardens are at Camí del Rus, in Calella de Palafrugell; parking near the entrance is limited even out of season.
